[mems-talk] Birefringence measurements of polymers

Hi,

What kind of equipment is needed to measure birefringence patterns in 
polymers? Do you need to buy some expencive high-tech mashine or is it 
something that you can puzzle together on your own in the lab with some 
polarizers and microscopes? Are birefringence measurements, to check for 
molded in stress, a standard tool for evaluating a fabrication process of 
polymers or is it only important when fabricating optics and such? I'm 
setting up a hot embossing system and I wonder if I should include 
birefringence measurements in the evaluation of the process.
