I did not do an upgrade install, but I guess I must have, as you
suggest,
modified the file system to include the headers.  I sent Mike
a tarball of the apparently missing "include" directory, and I'll be
interested to know if that solved his problem.

I'm definitely building extensions with the 2.3* that comes with Tiger,
so I know that is possible.
