I'm looking for URL's of MEMS and MEMS research, escpecially consumer level articles with pictures, etc. Small bananas to researchers, but my bright 8 year old has been making super tiny oragami that I can hardly even see, and I think he might really be intrigured with this new branch of science. Suggestions? ------- End of Forwarded Message http://www.bearkgd.com has SEM pictures of examples of bulk micromachined silicon devices used for making temporary electrical contact to either bare semiconductor die bond pads, or to chip scale package solder balls. The devices combine the use of mechanical features to break thru the pad or ball oxides for good electrical contact, and thin film technology to connect the mechanical features electrically to wire bond pads. Your 8 year old can see 4000 Angstrom high features on the top of a 75 micron high pedestal, along with gold wire bonds using 25 micron dia wire.
