optical properties of silicon

According to D.E. Aspenes, in Properties of Crystalline Silicon, p. 683,
for intrinsic silicon at 1.55 um (0.80 eV), alpha = 0.000 cm-1.
That's zero absorption, to several figures, at that wavelength.
The table lists non-zero absorption below 0.20 eV and above 1.00 eV.
