I thought monocrystalline silicon is not a piezoelectic material. silicon has a symmetrical crystalline structure with covalent bondings. Most of piezoelec. material lacks a center of symmetry and are with ionic bonds. (e.g. NaCl) piezoelectric effect is not equivalent to peizoresistive effect. hope it helps. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Deepak Kandikuppa"To: Sent: Monday, November 28, 2005 12:46 AM Subject: [mems-talk] peizoelectric materials > hi everyone, > Can somebody tell me why single crystal silicon is not used as a > piezoelectric material, but is used as piezoresistive material. > pls mail me asap..
