Generally, the glass is more expensive than the silicon for sizes up to 100mm
diameter; where silicon is nearly a "commodity".  At 150mm diameter the cost
difference is small.  Above 150mm diameters, glass tends to be lower cost.

Silicon above 150mm is still relatively expensive and used mostly for IC chips.
When silicon fabs go to larger and larger formats (100mm to 150mm to 200 mm
diameter), they drive down the prices of the "old" 100mm wafers; making them
more available for the non-IC mass market.
