C.S. Ph.D. Opportunity in Multimedia and DNA Mapping Robotics

The New York University Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences Department
of Computer Science has openings for Ph.D. candidates to work in the areas of
Multimedia, Robotics and DNA micromanipulation. The candidate will work toward
a Ph.D. in Computer Science, under the advisement of Prof. Jacob T. Schwartz,
Prof. Ken Perlin, Prof. Richard Wallace or another faculty member in the
Multimedia area, with support over a 4- or 5-year period conditional upon
maintenance of academic standards and completing the requirements of the Ph.D.
program. Support includes full tuition and stipend, and the candidate is
expected to have an active role in research beginning in the first year.

Alongside the standard qualifications for admission to the Computer Science
Ph.D. program, which include strong academic background and GRE scores, we are
considering factors such as industrial or laboratory experience, undergraduate
backgrounds in Electrical, Biomedical, Mechanical or other Engineering fields,
and other experience in the areas of research under investigation at the NYU
Media Research Lab.

Please send a letter of introduction to NYU Robotics and Media Research Lab,
Department of Computer Science, 715 Broadway 12th Floor, New York, NY 10003.
