Microsystem Technologies in the USA and Canada International Workshop 3 Nov. 95, Messezentrum (Convention Center) Dusseldorf, INTERKAMA This workshop will cover the main activities in the field of microsystem technologies in the USA and Canada. Experts from Europe and America will report on recent achievements in research and development. The aim of the workshop is to inform on everything that is important for further transatlantic cooperation. For more information, please see WWW: http://mems.isi.edu/archives/Announcements/ workshop_MEMS_in_the_US_Canada.html FTP: /mems/Announcements/workshop_MEMS_in_the_US_Canada.txt in the MEMS Archive ("mems.isi.edu"). Micromachining Workshop II: Technology and Applications 27-28 Sept. 1995, Anaheim Marriott, Anaheim, Calif. Drawing on experts in both research and manufacturing, this workshop will address the exciting new developments in micromachining and MEMS technology. This two-day program features invited-only speakers who will give an overview of research and development issues by covering topics including fundamental processing methodology, scientific and engineering challenges, applications, future opportunities, and perceived limitations. Second Annual MUMPs User Meeting 27 Oct. 1995, Chicago O'Hare Hilton Hotel This year's meeting will emphasize the user -- dedicating more time to poster sessions which enable users to meet each other and learn first-hand about the projects being carried out on MUMPs. In addition to poster sessions, several discussion sessions will be held to address what's new in the Consolidated MEMS Element Library (CaMEL), Electronics Integration available through the MUMPs (using flip chip), and the expanding MEMS infrastructure activities coming on-line during the next year. Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Hawaii The Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Hawaii at Manoa, has a post-doctoral position available for 12 months to begin approximately October 1, 1995. Continuation is dependent upon satisfactory performance and availability of funds. The post-doc will participate in developing piezoelectric MEMS which will include simulating, fabricating, testing, and modeling. Special emphasis will be on developing acoustic MEMS such as microphones, microspeakers, etc. For more information, please see WWW: http://mems.isi.edu/archives/Announcements/UHawaii-job.html FTP: /mems/Announcements/UHawaii-job.txt in the MEMS Archive ("mems.isi.edu"). MEMS Research Position available at USC/ISI The Information Sciences Institute of the University of Southern California is seeking a Micro-Electro-Mechanical-Systems (MEMS) researcher. The person sought should be able to make a contribution to the existing MEMS program in the Institute and be able to branch out into new research and application directions in MEMS. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. with major emphasis in micromechanical systems, a good understanding of the power and limitations of current technology and have specific experience in MEMS implementation issues.
