The Q factor determines how accurately you can measure the resonance frequency. High Q factor means high accuracy. This is very important for resonant sensors. For filter applications The Q factor determines the bandwidth. It seems that a high Q is of critical importance for MEMS resonators. However, i did not see any literature that specifies why a high Q is so important. Could anyone tell me why we need a such high Q? (I would likt it to be mathematical) Thank you very much!
