This is the same FSF that, say, kept the readline library under GPL and
claimed that any application linking to it was a derived product?

This list certainly is not the right forum to debate these sort of
licensing issues.  It's a friendly, helpful, low-volume sort of place, and
I think we should keep it that way.  But it is worth keeping in mind that
the issue of where the boundaries lie is not always all that clear.  When
choosing components for an application, one *should* keep licensing in
mind, as it can affect the licensing of the final result.
