quixote-20011123/WindowsXP Prof/apache 1.3.22/python 2.1.1

Running the demo, I've got  in my httpd.conf file.
ServerName is localhost.

When I connect from the same machine /localhost/q and /localhost/q/ both
work as expected. If I connect from a different machine, /machinename/q/
works but /machinename/q doesn't. Does anyone know why that would be?
