Are the imports from "pb" and "threadable" (and the related methods/calls) the
cause of your concern?

If so, I'd be happy to gut them.  It runs with or without them.  I just
figured that for someone doing more advanced Twisted stuff, they might be
happier if I had left them in, as they are present in the class I modeled.
Frankly, I don't know they do (aside from what can be inferred based on the
packages and method names), and I wouldn't miss them.

If I do gut them, I'll ned a bit of time to re-test to make sure it doesn't
have some obscure effect on performance or something.
