I've heard before that IE drops cookies on the floor from time to time:

(BTW, ISTR from reading the Mozilla source code that it limits number and
size of cookies, so I guess you can't be totally certain with any browser
that even session cookies aren't going to vanish at inconvenient times.)

Mind you, are you certain it's not simply that you're expiring it
yourself, with max-age or expires attributes (either in the original
Set-Cookie header, or in one from a subsequent response)?  Quixote doesn't
do that all by itself, but maybe you asked it to.
