I don't think this is the cause of your problem, but if you have a
choice,
you should consider using Apache1 instead of Apache2 with SCGI.
The mod_scgi module for Apache1 has been in production use for a long
time now.
I'm not sure that is true for the Apache2 mod_scgi module (but I would
be interested to know, if anyone wants to report it here.)
