Funny, I was thinking the same thing this morning. It's obvious yet unobtrusive. Alternatively, [plain, $] and [html, $]. That would allow for easier expansion if we add another decorator in the future. But aesthetically it's less desirable. If $ is optional, can we have it pull in globals as well as locals?
