No, not out of the box, but you probably could change apache2/
mod_scgi.c and scgi/scgi_server.py to make that happen fairly easily.

I'm not familiar what the "mess" you describe, so I'm not really sure
why you would want or need to do this. I'd like to hear more about
that actually.
