I have replaced Apache httpd with lighthttpd which has builtin scgi support. My site (an online computational server) is just back online! But I don't know how stable the new setup and I still have to see if it suffers from the unwanted old ptl file persistence problems. BTW, why are the flags --P (pidfile --u (as user) --l(logfile) unrecognized in scgi? ?The -P flag would be useful since currently to stop the server, I have to scan the netstat output for the port scgi is configured to listen to and manually kill it. Thanks to the developers of the Quixote and supporting software and to the folks who answer in the mailing lists. I was about to use Django or Turbogears, but I did not have the time to learn a new framework (or shuder at the horror of rewriting more than a hundred PTL files which is still growing).
