The name comes from Don Quixote, the silly knight who went around doing pointless tasks like tilting at windmills. When we started the project (spring 2000 was it?), we figured that Yet Another Web Application Framework was, well, quixotic. The pronunciation is Spanish -- so I think the x is aspirated, kinda like the Scottish "ch" or Dutch "g". If you can say "loch" or "Gouda" correctly, you can probably say "Quixote" correctly. ;-) Native Spanish speakers, please correct me!
