Hi, friends, I need to prepare atomic-scaled smooth gold(111) film on a solid substrates. To date, I tried on slide glass with the Cr as adhesion layer. As usually done int he literature, I also treat the sample with flame annealing. But the surface does not behave as expected. The problems are: 1) The gold surface is composed of particles (or grains) but not atomic flat. 2) It seems that Cr atoms diffuse into gold bulk causing darker color, which is consistent with the literal reports. Does anyboday know how to prepare a nice gold film on Glass or Silicon wafer (with or without native oxide) matching the following requires: 1) Good adhesion to withstand the neutral aqueous solution. 2) No Cr is used 3) The atomic flat Au(111) on the topmost layer can be easily obtained. Thank you very much in advance for your help! Yongan
