Typically when one wants to deposit gold on something, an adhesion layer
is used. Cr, NiCr &Ti, are some common ones, but try just looking up
"adhesion layer" or "tie coat." If any of those materials are available
to you then you can deposit a thin film (a couple nm, 5-10) on top of
your oxide before putting the gold.
