Rough etching glass

I would like to make the internal surface of a 1 mm i.d. SQUARE glass
capillary (borosilicate, 0.2 mm wall thickness) rough. People have
told me that I should treat the glass with dilute HF (30%) whereas
others say that this will not work and that the surface will remain
smooth. Chemical treatment of the glass appears the only option. I
would like to know if anyone has suggestions or if they know that a
particular HF method will work.
