Hi: I don't think PLZT likes being stored at 700K. What is its Curie Temperature? If it is near 700K you are depoling the sample. Also, the translucence of PLZT is due to oxygen vacancies. You may be, depending on the atmosphere you are working in, either increasing(oxidizing atmosphere) or decreasing (reducing or passive atmosphere) the number of these vacancies. If you heat PLZT to the temperature you are operating at in a weak vacuum, say 10-3+ torr, it will look like a charcoal briquette within ten minutes. I hope this helps. I am having hot pressed translucent PLZT with me, whose colour is changing with time and temperature(700K). Some body who is working on these ferroelectrics, can tell me the possible reasons for that. thanks ____________________________________________________________________________ ___ Gurvinderjit Singh Ahluwalia Tel: +91-0731-488656 Laser Materials Division Fax: +91-0731-488650 Centre for Advanced Technology email: gjit@cat.ernet.in Indore - 452 013 INDIA ____________________________________________________________________________ ___ _______________________________________________ mems-talk mailing list mems-talk@memsnet.org To unsubscribe or change your list options, use: http://fab.mems-exchange.org/mailman/listinfo/mems-talk --- Incoming mail is certified Virus Free.
