Dear Mr. Callard: In response to your message 2 from vol 1 #87, I would like to offer the following information for your consideration. Here at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), we have an Advanced Robotics Research Institute (ARRI) that is engaged in first class work on the design and manufacturing of MEMS-based sensors and actuators. This work is done in collaboration with Dr. Ed. Kolesar a renowned researcher in this area from the Texas Christian University, located in Fort Worth Texas (less than 15 miles west of UTA). In addition to the facilities at ARRI, we have animal facilities for the testing and characterization of bio-MEMS at UTA and we also have access to animal facilities at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas (15 miles east of UTA). Our Biomedical Engineering Program (BME) maintains a high level of collaboration with a large number of renowned life scientist in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Hence, devices can be evaluated at all levels from bench models to animal tests, to clinical evaluation. BME and AARI collaborate closely at UTA. We are prepared to discuss possible collaboration.
