Well, let me add that Patrick O'Brien gave a very nice
presentation on a new package called Schevo (see url below).
Schevo provides a layer above an object database that
imposes your schema and provides an automatic gui.
I think Schevo might be an important step in spreading the
joy of object databases to a wider audience.
