Just a thought. If I remember correctly, very thin foils are provided on backing materials. They are very uniformly coated with an adhesive. In contact to another substrate they adhere with the adhesive. You then peel off the backing. I think I remember seeing them used in art projects. You just need one that is silver without a coating. For prototyping it might work.
